A sign permit, issued by the Inspector of Buildings, is required for the erection of any sign. You must also get a permit to alter an existing sign.
Temporary and moveable signs, like sandwich boards and wheeled trailers that carry signs, require permits as well. Temporary/moveable sign permits are valid for 30 days and are limited to 3 per year, provided that 120 days have passed since the expiration date of the previous permit for such sign.
